About Fluval External Aquarium Filter
External filters are an excellent option for medium and large sized aquariums. Their large size and power means they are the most suitable option for larger aquariums, or those that are heavily stocked or house messy fish which produce a lot of waste. They are also a great option for those who wish to invest a bit more in a filtration system in order to cut back on aquarium maintenance. A larger filter means larger surface area for beneficial bacteria which means more waste can be broken down.
The new 07 series marks the 7th incarnation in nearly 4 decades of Fluval's top-selling canister filter family worldwide. Not only does the latest generation incorporate the power and reliability you've come to expect from the leader in aquatic filtration, but it also features several new performance upgrades that make it more robust, energy-efficient, flexible and easier to use than ever before.
The 07 series is excellent for aquariums housing large and/or big groups of cichlids, carnivorous fish species, oddballs, and stingrays. The eTEC external filter features a redesigned quick primer for fast, effortless start ups and generates constant pumping power and pressure that endures over time. It is also 25% quieter than previous models thanks to the Italian precision crafted impeller assembly. The aquastop valves feature a raised lip for simplified hose disconnection and the filter is finished with single action dual locking clamps for quick motorhead attachment. The versatile media stack maximises space for flexible media configurations whilst the vertical pre-filter with new bio-foam max provides more surface area and better mechanical filtration. Finally, the easy-lift media baskets with a new central handle, provide faster media access and less mess, making maintenance a little less challenging. Being an external filter there is no large unit that sits inside the aquarium itself, just some intake and outlet pipes, this makes it easier to create a more natural aquascape and also gives your fish more room to swim.
